VIENNA - In a significant step towards strengthening the cooperation between the United Kingdom and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Mr. Gerd Müller, UNIDO Director General, met with Her Excellency, Ms. Lindsay Skoll, the UK’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna and Ambassador to Austria, to reiterate their strong partnership to deliver the new, large-scale GBP 65 million Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility, which they launched together in May 2023.

The encounter provided an opportunity for Her Excellency to meet the recently-recruited A2D Facility team led by Mr. Peter Warren, A2D Facility Manager. Discussions centred on the forthcoming steps to complete the inception phase and to deliver an impactful programme.

Funded by the UK and implemented by UNIDO, the A2D Facility is a much-needed critical mechanism to accelerate pilot demonstration projects in developing countries of innovative technologies in critical minerals, clean hydrogen, smart energy and industrial decarbonization.

This encounter marked a crucial stride in their shared commitment to advancing sustainable and inclusive industrial development and climate action in developing countries through cutting-edge solutions.

Embracing UNIDO's motto, 'Progress by innovation,' the partnership between UNIDO and the UK is driving forward clean energy innovations, opening new frontiers for development opportunities for all.
